It's going to be scary: Little Nightmares III's age rating confirmed that the game hasn't lost its horror elements
The highly anticipated horror platformer Little Nightmares III has received its first age rating, making it known that despite the change of development studio, the third game in the series will remain dark and frightening.
Here's What We Know
Infocomm Media Development Authority, a Singaporean classification commission, has reviewed the content of Little Nightmares III and stated that the game is not recommended for those under 16 years old.
The experts explained that although there is no open demonstration of blood in the game, and many scenes are a bit veiled, the general atmosphere of Little Nightmares III is disturbing: there are corpses on the locations, the heroes have to defend themselves from monsters with a spanner and arrows, and the game has elements of close combat, which were not present in the previous parts. This is not surprising, because the sequel of the famous franchise is developed by Supermassive Games studio - the author of Until Dawn, The Quarry and The Dark Pictures anthology.
The game features horror scenes and an enduring sense of danger, accompanied by ominous sound effects. This can be accompanied by scenes of violence as characters engage in hand-to-hand and ranged combat without showing details of their injuries. You may also come across bodies and body parts while exploring. Other disturbing images include a creature being crushed by a mechanical press; a creature presumably cutting up the body of another to extract meat from it; and the creature's insides falling out of a container.
When We Can Expect It
Little Nightmares III is expected to release in 2025 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Most likely, the age rating could mean that Bandai Namco will announce the exact release date of the game soon.
