Apple executives will not appear on The Talk Show during WWDC 2025
For the first time in the ten years of the annual tradition, Apple executives will not participate in a live edition of the popular podcast The Talk Show, hosted by John Gruber.
Here's What We Know
Since 2015, this podcast, broadcast from the WWDC conference, has usually included interviews with Apple executives who, although not announcing any big news, shared interesting thoughts on the company's products and future updates.
This year's event was an exception, as John Gruber announced that Apple declined the invitation to participate in the show. No official reason was given, but many believe that it was due to Gruber's criticism of Apple, especially due to his recent statements about delays in launching an updated Siri based on Apple Intelligence.
The new Siri features should include the ability to track emails, messages, files, photos and other data, as well as improved integration with apps.
In his March blog post, Gruber accused Apple of showing off software that didn't actually work yet - in effect, "empty promises". The company has always been known for releasing products and updates on time, so this came as a surprise to many.
Apple's refusal to participate in The Talk Show seems to be a reaction to the criticism, as well as a signal that the company is not ready to answer difficult questions about the problems with Siri and its further development.
