Sales of the Horizon franchise games have surpassed 38 million copies
Sony hasn't disclosed the actual sales statistics of one of its flagship franchises - Horizon - for a long time, but within the framework of the lawsuit with Tencent, the reason for which was the game Light of Motiram, which is a "Chinese clone" of Horizon, this information has become public.
Here's What We Know
In the documents submitted to the Federal Court of California, Sony's lawyers indicated that the total sales of all games in the Horizon series exceeded 38 million copies, while in May 2023 this figure corresponded to 32 million copies.
Recall, at the moment the series, created by the studio Guerrilla Games, has four games: Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West, VR-game Horizon Call of the Mountain and unusual Lego Horizon Adventures.
A full third part is known to be in development, and Korean company NCSoft is (according to numerous rumours) creating an MMORPG in this universe. It won't be without a film adaptation: but Rumour: Horizon series no longer in development due to toxic and manipulative behaviour of showrunner Steve Blackman, Sony and Columbia Pictures Horizon Zero Dawn will get a film adaptation after all: Sony and Columbia Pictures have announced a feature film based on the acclaimed PlayStation game.
