A video showing how Huawei's contactless car door opening technology works has gone viral online. Although the video itself is dated May, it has become popular due to comments from popular bloggers, including MKBHD, who reasonably notes that such a complex gesture requires a free hand, so the technology is not very useful. But technology tends to evolve. Once upon a time, flexible screens were considered a gimmick, and now, according to rumours, even Apple is going to release a foldable phone.

Gesture recognition in cars is not new. The technology of opening the trunk with a foot gesture has become popular. We can expect that soon the car will recognise the owner by face and open the door prudently.
