Apple recently celebrated an important milestone: since the launch of the first iPhone in 2007, the corporation has shipped three billion smartphones. This was announced by CEO Tim Cook during the presentation of financial results for the third quarter of 2025.

The first billion devices were sold by 2016, another five years later - by 2021 - the second billion was reached. But the latest third billion mark was passed in just four years, indicating that the pace of sales is accelerating.

The iPhone remains Apple's main revenue driver, with sales of $44.6bn for the quarter - up 13% year-on-year, almost half of the total $94bn in revenue.

This success was achieved despite the threat of new tariffs: customers rushed to upgrade devices in advance, and Apple actively shifted production to India and Vietnam to reduce the impact of duties.

Nevertheless, Apple recognises: the future is AI. Tim Cook reiterated a serious focus on developing AI technology, including improvements to Siri and future products with AI features.
