Leaked: Pixel 10 will get branded cases with Qi2 magnets - Google is preparing its "Android MagSafe"
We're just over a week away from the premiere of the Google Pixel 10 series, but official accessories have already "flashed" on the web. NieuweMobiel.NL has revealed the branded Pixelsnap cases for the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL - and they have an important new feature.
The main difference from the Pixel 9 cases is the inbuilt magnetic ring with the Pixel lettering inside. Judging by the leaks, this isn't just a decorative element: this is the first time Google is introducing in-built magnets into an Android smartphone to support the Qi2 standard. That means the Pixel 10 will be able to use magnetic wireless chargers and accessories, similar to Apple's MagSafe.
Colours and materials
The cases will come in four colours for the Pixel 10: Indigo, Obsidian, Limoncello and Frost. The inside is soft microfibre, the outside is the usual silicone.

For the Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL, the cases are expected in three variants: Moonstone, Jade, Porcelain.

Why it matters
Apple has been using magnets in iPhones for years, but the idea hasn't caught on among Android makers - magnets weigh down the device and can limit battery size. If Google has found a way around these downsides, the Pixel 10 will be the first mass-market Android flagship with full Qi2 support.
When We Can Expect It
The Pixel 10 series and all accessories will be revealed on 20 August at the Made by Google event. Along with the cases, it is rumoured that a line of Pixelsnap accessories will be unveiled: magnetic chargers, stands and holders.
