MediaTek has released the Dimensity 7360 Turbo mobile processor, a mid-range processor with 5G support. Despite the new name, it is technically almost identical to the Dimensity 7300, which has sparked discussions among analysts about whether this is a real new product or just a rebranding. Usually, technically identical processors get a different name if the manufacturer has improved the quality of lithography over time and achieved stable operation of the chip at higher frequencies, but in this case, the frequencies remained at the same level.
The main characteristics of Dimensity 7360:
- Architecture: 8 cores: 4 Cortex-A78 cores (2.5 GHz) and 4 Cortex-A55 cores (2.0 GHz)
- Graphics: Mali-G615 MC2
- Process technology: 4nm from TSMC
- Connectivity: 5G modem with 3CC CA support, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4
- ISP: support for cameras up to 200 megapixels, 4K HDR video recording
- AI: MediaTek APU 655
Dimensity 7360 is already used in the Vivo V60 Lite 5G, which was the first commercial device to use this chip. The reason for the rebranding is currently unknown.
