Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 will come out with just one voice assistant instead of the two promised (spoiler: it's not Google Assistant)
This week Samsung unveiled the new "smart" Galaxy Watch 4, which is the first to get One UI Watch powered by Wear OS - the operating system developed by Samsung and Google. The watch should go on sale at the end of the month, but buyers won't get some of the promised features.
Without Google Assistant
The rumored Wear OS platform was supposed to get support for alternative voice assistants. That is, everyone was expecting two assistants at once - Google Assistant and Bixby. But the Galaxy Watch 4 will eventually launch with just one assistant, and it's the less popular Bixby.
But that could change in the future. Samsung representatives said that Assistant is considered one of the features from Google that the company hopes to add to the Galaxy Watch 4.
"Samsung is working closely with Google to bring these popular Google services into the Galaxy Watch 4 series. We will share more details when they are ready"
Perhaps Google Assistant will be added along with update or it will need to be downloaded from Google Play store.
By the way, Google Pay could also be in predicament on Galaxy Watch 4. Even though Google has stated that Google Pay will be supported on the watch, so far the app is not working and hangs during the initial setup. This is reported by journalists who have already managed to test the new Galaxy Watch 4.
