Arcflash Labs began taking pre-orders for a $3,375 Gauss handgun
Arcflash Labs has opened pre-orders for a manual electromagnetic mass accelerator. The new product is called the GR-1 ANVIL.
What is it?
The manual Gauss gun uses electromagnetic forces to accelerate a ferromagnetic projectile 1-1.2 cm in diameter. The maximum velocity is 60 m/sec. In contrast to the railgun, where the projectile travels between contact rails, here electromagnetic coils (8 pieces) are used for acceleration.
GR-1 ANVIL can fire 100 rounds per minute. Muzzle energy is comparable to that of the air rifles and amounts to 85 Joules. Weight of the gun is 9 kg and its barrel is 66 cm long. The gun can use three standard rounds of 32mm, 42mm and 52mm.
The package includes a case and a rechargeable battery. Magazines, projectiles and charger will have to be purchased separately. Arcflash Labs estimated the GR-1 ANVIL at $3,750, but the novelty is available at a 10% discount at the pre-order stage, i.e. for $3,375. According to the developers, it's the most powerful handheld Gauss gun in the world. Or one of those.
