Audio-Technica introduced the ATH-S220BT wireless headphones: multipoint pairing and 60 hours of use
Audio-Technica has lifted the veil on its latest budget headphone model. The ATH-S220BT for just $59 offers a decent set of features, including battery life that the company says provides up to 60 hours of use on a single charge. According to Audio-Technica, with just 10 minutes of charging from USB-C, you can extend your listening time to 3.5 hours.
The Bluetooth 5.0 headphones feature 40mm speakers, which Audio-Technica claims provide low audio latency. You can also connect them using the included 3.5mm cable, which features a built-in microphone and controls.
The ATH-S220BT can connect to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously for quick switching between them. There is a built-in microphone, headphone controls and Google Fast Pair support for Android devices. Along with Siri and Google Assistant compatibility, there's a proprietary "voice prompt" feature that can provide information on current battery level, pairing status, and more.
While the headphones lack higher-end features such as active noise cancellation, they may well earn someone's attention, even if the sound quality turns out to be "excellent" (as the manufacturer assures). The headphones weigh only 180 grams, which should make a noticeable difference in comfort during extended use.
The ATH-S220BT is available in several colors: black with dark gray accents, dark blue with beige ear cushions and headband, or white with black trim.
