Wear OS users are suddenly without the Telegram app

Popular messaging service Telegram has released update 8.0 with several new features, but Android users are in for an unfortunate loss. Unfortunately, the situation looks like Telegram has quietly shut down its Wear OS app.

Telegram 8.0 brought with it several key changes, including unlocking all restrictions on live audience size. The number of viewers can now be unlimited. Forwarding messages has also received a few updates: you can now hide signatures or the sender's name. Telegram will also now show trending stickers and will improve the sticker selection process in its Android app. Finally, more emoji will be animated when sending an individual message.

The biggest change in this update, however, seems to be the end of the Telegram app for Wear OS. The app suddenly disappeared from the Google Play Store on Galaxy Watch 4 and Moto 360 devices after this update was released. Interestingly, it was available back on Sunday night.

The app no longer appears when you search for "Telegram" in the Play Store. This means it can't be re-downloaded, but if it's already installed on your smartwatch, it will continue to work indefinitely.

There has been no comment from representatives of the messenger.
