Huawei PixLab X1: the company's first HarmonyOS-based printer for $300

Huawei today held a presentation in China, where unveiled not only  MateBook 13s and MateBook 14snotebooks, Huawei MateStation S and monoblock MateStation X, but also its first desktop printer PixLab X1.

What can it do?

It's a laser printer that can only print in black and white mode, but with speeds of up to 28 pages per minute. It also supports automatic two-sided printing.

In addition, the device also serves as a copier and scanner. When scanning documents such as ID cards, the printer automatically corrects the orientation of images if they are arranged chaotically.

Huawei PixLab X1 runs the proprietary HarmonyOS operating system, has 512 MB RAM and 4 GB built-in memory. There's a USB 2.0 port, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 5 and NFC to start printing from the phone with a single tap. Huawei says that once a user account is connected to a computer, all devices under that account are automatically added to the printer, so there is no need for separate pairing for each.

The printer is compatible with devices running Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7/8/10, Windows Server 2003 and above, Ubuntu 14.04 and above, macOS 10.9.x and above and RedHat 7.0 and above.

In China, the PixLab X1 costs about $300.
