Xiaomi has cancelled the Redmi K40S and is preparing for the release of the Redmi K50 series

The network has already repeatedly appeared information that the company Redmi K40s will get Snapragon 870, 50MP camera and 120Hz OLED screen. It turns out that this is not the case.

What is known

According to Chinese publication Mydrivers, referring to the general manager of the brand, the manufacturer will not release Redmi K40S. The company has decided to go straight to the Redmi K50 lineup.

Recall, if leaks are to be believed, there will be at least three models in the new series: Redmi K50, Redmi K50 Pro and Redmi K50 Pro+. Details about the base and top-end version of the smartphone are not yet available, but the middle model Redmi K50 Pro goes under the codename Ingres. The device is credited with a new flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 (aka SM8450) processor. In addition, the device will get a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a main triple camera with a 64 MP or 108 MP main sensor. It will be complemented by a wide-angle lens and possibly a periscopic sensor supporting 5x optical zoom.

The Redmi K50 series may be announced as early as late this year or early next year.
