The creator of the NES and SNES Masayuki Uemura dies

In my time The Nintendo Entertainment System (abbreviated as NES) and the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) have gained immense popularity with gamers around the world. All this became possible thanks to their "father" - Masayuki Uemura, it was he who developed both consoles. Unfortunately, today it became known about Uemura's death. He was 78 years old.

Uemura started working at Nintendo back in 1972 and first developed a light pistol, which was then used in games such as Duck Hunt Wild Gunman and others. When the company underwent restructuring, Uemura became the head of the division responsible for the development of equipment Nintendo... There, the first console of the Color TV-Game company appeared.

In 1983 Uemura and their team released the NES, an eight-bit console with cartridge games. In Japan alone, the NES sold 20 million devices, and the world figure froze at 61.91 million. The engineer then led the development of the 16-bit SNES. More than 49 million devices have been sold worldwide.

Uemura He was not only engaged in "hardware": he also had a hand in the creation of games for the NES, for example, Ice Climber, Golf, Tennis, Baseball, and the ports of Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr. and Mario Bros. from arcade machines to the console.

In 2004 Masayuki Uemura left  Nintendo, but retained the position of the company's consultant. The engineer then became director of the Game Science Center and lecturer at the Ritsumeikan Institute in Kyoto.
