In September 2021 Samsung unveils ISOCELL HP1 Is the world's first image sensor for smartphones with a resolution of 200 MP (16 384 × 12 288 dots). And now, at CES 2022, OmniVision Technologies has shown its competitor - OmniVision OVB0B.

What's special?

According to the manufacturer, it is the world's smallest sensor with a resolution of 200 MP (16 384 × 12 288 pixels). The size of one pixel here is only 0.61 microns. Another feature of the sensor is the use of QPD technology: the entire area is used for phase detection autofocus.

In addition, binning or combining of 16 neighboring pixels is used, which results in high-quality images with a resolution of 12.5 MP.

The OmniVision OVB0B supports 50 MP video recording at 24 fps to / from, as well as 8K video at 30 to / from... Possibility of shooting video with a resolution of 12.5 MP and a frame rate of 30 to / from extended dynamic range.

OmniVision Technologies has already sent test samples to smartphone manufacturers, but it is not yet known when the first devices with 200MP cameras will appear on the market.
