Sony finally releases Android 12 update for Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III flagships

Sony is among the latest among smartphone manufacturers to start updating its flagships to the new version of the Android 12 operating system. But better late than never.

Who updated?

So, the stable version of Android 12 is out for Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 IIIwhich debuted in April 2021. The firmware build number is 61.1.A.1.149. The first in line are options with two SIM cards (model numbers XQ-BC72 and XQ-BQ72), and other versions are expected to follow very soon.

The update arrives "over the air", but if there are no notifications, go to the "Software update" section in the settings and check for the package manually. Also, experienced users can download the firmware themselves.

The update brings many new features for Sony Xperia owners, such as long screen captures, one-handed controls, and a notification informing users when their microphone and camera are in use.
