Nvidia and AMD said the U.S. has restricted AI chip exports to some Middle Eastern countries
The US authorities have extended restrictions on the export of artificial intelligence chips from Nvidia and AMD not only to China, but also to some Middle Eastern countries.
Here's What We Know
In particular, the restrictions affected Nvidia's A100 and H100 chips designed to accelerate machine learning tasks. The company said that the export control measures will not have a significant impact on its results of operations.
AMD also received an information letter with similar restrictions. The company is confident that the move will not have a material impact on its earnings.
The US Department of Commerce, which handles export licensing, said it has not blocked chip sales to the Middle East. The department did not comment on whether the new requirements were imposed on specific US companies.
