Google has allowed teenagers in most countries to use its Bard chatbot as long as their language is set to English. The minimum age varies from 13 to 16 years old depending on the country.

Here's What We Know

According to Google, teens can turn to Bard for advice on writing speeches, choosing universities and science projects. It has also added the ability to teach maths with step-by-step problem solving.

As with the launch of other AI services for minors, Google says precautions have been taken. According to the company, Bard is trained not to give out inappropriate content.

The first time you ask a fact-based question, Bard automatically runs a double check on your answer. This is done to combat AI "hallucinations" when it gives erroneous information. The feature will soon be enabled by default for all new users.

Also to celebrate the launch, Google has developed an instructional video for teens on how to use Bard, with a focus on critical thinking and information literacy.
