Microsoft Copilot gets music creation feature thanks to Suno integration

Microsoft
Microsoft's chatbot Copilot can now compose songs thanks to its integration with Suno, a music app powered by generative artificial intelligence.
Here's What We Know
Copilot users can now enter text prompts like "compose a pop song about travelling". Based on these, Suno generates ready-made musical compositions -- with vocals, instrumental accompaniment and lyrics.
The integration is available by using a chatbot in the Microsoft Edge browser. To do so, you need to log in to your Microsoft account and enable the Suno plugin.

According to the developers, this collaboration "opens new horizons for creativity", making music creation accessible to a wider audience.
At the same time, the integration raises a number of ethical issues. Often, AI algorithms are trained on existing pieces of music. Not all original songwriters have consented to this and have been compensated.
A number of musicians and organisations have already expressed dissatisfaction with this practice. For example, the Grammy Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences has banned the consideration of fully AI-generated compositions for its awards.
