OpenAI has announced a partnership with non-profit organisation Common Sense Media to help teens safely harness the power of artificial intelligence in learning.

Here's What We Know

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said he wants to make AI "safe, responsible, and widely accessible" to young people. Common Sense Media is focused on children's cybersecurity and plans to create an AI rating system for parents and educators.

As part of the partnership, the organisations will develop guidelines for using AI in education and create "family-friendly" versions of ChatGPT. According to Altman, the adapted models could help teens learn about the exact sciences.

OpenAI did not specify exactly how the AI would be customised for schoolchildren. Altman noted the possible risks of using the technology during election season, but expressed confidence that people will be able to recognise fakes.

That said, the company is preparing to respond to potential misuse of its designs.
