Soundbar JBL Link Bar with Android TV will make any TV "smart"
JBL has announced the development of a sound panel with Android TV on board - JBL Link Bar. This is a joint project of the company and Google's search giant, we can learn more about it at the I / O 2018 developers conference.
Not just a voice assistant
Like the JBL Link View smart column shown in January, the soundbar is integrated with Google Assistant. Behind the grid of the front panel even there are lights in the style of Google Home Max, and built-in microphones recognize voice commands within the room. But the main feature of the novelty is Android TV. The acoustic system can turn an ordinary TV into an "intelligent" one. Or replace the old Smart TV platform with a fresh TV OS.

JBL Link Bar displays an image with a resolution of up to 4K, supported and HDR-format. There are also three HDMI ports for connecting game consoles and Blu-ray players. Switch between them by simply pressing a button on the top panel or on the remote control that comes with the package. The power supply is built into the soundbar.
Separately, JBL will also sell a subwoofer. Acoustics supports Chromecast technology, but only for playing music around the house. Collect the home theater from the "connected" speakers will not work.
When?
JBL Link Bar will have to wait a little - official prices and release date of the soundbar will be announced only in the autumn.
A similar approach Chinese Xiaomi uses in its flagship TVs Mi TV 3S and Mi TV 4, where all the "smart" stuffing is made in the sound system.
