Business laptop models usually have good keyboards with longer key travel. The ASUS ExpertBook P5 is no exception: the keys have a full 1.5mm of key travel, which is very good for an ultraportable model. The actuation is quiet, yet elastic and very informative. The maximum refresh rate is 144Hz, there is a choice between 60Hz and 144Hzm. ASUS promises colour coverage of 100% sRGB space, and a maximum brightness of 400 cd/m². Unlike models with OLED screens, the MyASUS app has a minimum of settings: Splendid display profiles, colour temperature settings, a blue filter and True2Life video enhancement:

Although the screen does not boast such rich colours and deep blacks as OLED, but demonstrates a high-quality picture. Colours are natural, brightness level is more than enough. The screen has a matte finish, so there is no glare on it. Hardware measurements showed that the maximum brightness is 377.691 cd/m², black field brightness is 0.365 cd/m² and static contrast ratio is 1035:1. Very good performance, the brightness is very close to the stated value. The colour gamut is almost exactly the same as the sRGB colour space. But the calibration from the factory is not perfect: the colour temperature is slightly overestimated and is about 8500K, which is slightly higher than the reference value of 6500K. Accordingly, there's a slight emphasis on cooler shades.

ASUS ExpertBook P5 received an Intel Core Ultra 7 258V processor of the Lunar Lake generation, with which we have already had time to get acquainted in the review of ASUS Zenbook S 14. Recall that the new generation is significantly different from the previous Meteor Lake . Intel put the main emphasis on energy efficiency. Although, allegedly, the cores have become a bit more powerful. There are fewer cores in the configuration and they do not support Hyper-Threading. Directly Intel Core Ultra 7 258V got 4 productive and 4 energy efficient cores. The base frequency is 1.8 GHz and the maximum frequency is 4.8 GHz. The base TDP level is 17W and the maximum is 37W. There is a separate Intel AI Boost neural processor with the performance of 47 TOPS. For graphics is responsible for the integrated accelerator Intel Arc Graphics 140V, which has 8 cores on the Xe architecture and a maximum frequency of 1.95 GHz . There is 32GB of LPDDR5X-8533 RAM . MoP (Memory on Package) layout is used, i.e. memory chips are soldered on the same textolite with processor crystals. Wireless modules: dual-band Wi-Fi 6E(802.11ax) 2*2 and Bluetooth 5.3.

The results in synthetic tests are very close to the aforementioned ASUS Zenbook S 14 on a similar platform. Which is quite expected. So we have quite a good level of performance, first of all, in single-threaded tasks. In multithreading the processor lags a bit behind the competitors having more cores and supporting Hyper-Threading, or Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT) from AMD. The new integrated graphics accelerators also perform well. Although you should not expect performance at the level of discrete models.

If we talk about the gaming capabilities of the new integrated graphics Intel Arc Graphics 140V, everything is quite good. Of course, you shouldn't expect that you can comfortably play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. 2. But in not the most modern games - quite. For example, DOOM 2016 and Tomb Raider in native resolution 2560x1600 with high graphics settings work with a frame rate of 30-50 FPS. It doesn't drop below 30. So by lowering the graphics settings to medium and/or lowering the resolution to 1920x1200 you can get quite comfortable FPS.

The ExpertBook line has always stood out for good autonomy, in this case promises 28 hours of work. But this is of course in ideal conditions with minimal load. In reality, the laptop is really hardy. In a standard scenario of use, it works about 10 hours. This is 50% of brightness, work with documents, browser, mail, Photoshop and a little music from online services. We have a full working day without recharging, even with a reserve. The included 65W power supply charges the laptop in about 2 hours.
