Midnight Mercenaries, a fan-made Hotline Miami with characters from Team Fortress 2, has been released

A group of fans spent five years working on Midnight Mercenaries - a crossover between Hotline Miami and Team Fortress 2. Now the game came out and is open to everyone - lovers of both sources of inspiration will definitely like it!

From Hotline Miami, the game received a top-down view, fast-paced gameplay, one-hit death, electronic music and a lot of blood, and Team Fortress 2 - characters with unique abilities. For example, a Scout can jump and throw a baseball, and an Incendiary can chew through vents with fire.

Midnight Mercenaries has a very serious game base:

  • Nine unique classes and two subclasses. Someone will be suitable for only one style of play, and someone is close to universals.
  • Open-ended levels designed for specific classes and open to experimentation
  • Explosive barrels, destructible walls, closed doors and other obstacles.
  • Some levels have pre-planning: you can choose a respawn point and things that will appear at the location.
  • A non-linear plot with different character arcs and motivations.
  • Combo and scoring system. Another detail is related to it: you can recover right at the place of your death, but you will lose points.
  • Separately, the authors highlight predictability: for example, enemies and doors always behave in the same way, so the same actions of the player lead to the same result. Particular attention was paid to fair placement of enemies and generous hitboxes to keep the pace of the gameplay.

Midnight Mercenaries is available for free on GameJolt.
