Outbound Ghost developer withdraws the game from sale and threatens the publisher with a lawsuit if it does not return control over the game

The developer of indie-RPG The Outbound Ghost is asking users not to buy his game because, in his opinion, it does not meet his quality standards. He has also blocked sales of the game on Steam, the only platform, and is threatening legal action against publisher Digerati, which he says refuses to return control of the game to him.

Here's What We Know

The PC version of the game was launched in September this year after a successful Kickstarter campaign and received mostly positive reviews, which cannot be said about the versions for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. On December 1, publisher Digerati announced that an update with additional languages would soon be released for the game, but on December 4, it published another statement, where it admitted that the game has performance problems on some platforms. On December 8, he published another statement that although the PS4 version has already received two updates, the first update for Nintendo Switch is still pending.

"Digerati has released over 50 different games for the console and launches with these situations are the exception. We remain firmly committed to improving The Outbound Ghost as quickly as possible," the publisher said.

However, Outbound Ghost developer Conradical Games was not happy with how Digerati handled the situation. Shortly after the launch of the Switch version, lead developer Conrad Grindheim claimed that control over the launch was out of his hands and accused the publisher of releasing an unapproved and probably unfinished build of the game.

Yesterday, December 8, Grindheim posted an update video in which he threatened legal action against Digerati if it did not relinquish control of The Outbound Ghost on all platforms.
