Sweden hosted a Doom tournament on robotic lawnmowers to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the game series

Last year, enthusiasts were able to run Doom on a Christmas tree and a John Deere tractor. As it turned out, the game even works on lawnmowers.

Here's What We Know

In Sweden, a very unusual event took place. In the Scandinavian country held a Doom tournament on robotic lawnmowers AM 430X NERA cost about $4000. The manufacturer is the company Husqvarna.

The event was timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Doom series. Bethesda was also involved in organising the tournament.

AM 430X NERA is equipped with a wheel, which is responsible for camera rotation and shooting. You can move forward and sideways using two buttons. But you can't change weapons when playing on a lawnmower. But there is a multiplayer mode. It was realised due to the presence of a Wi-Fi adapter.

Doom tournament on robotic lawnmowers became a part of the Swedish festival DramHack Winter 2023. The full version of the competition (45 minutes) is available to watch on DramHack's official Twitch page. The winner received an AM 430X NERA lawnmower. The 2nd and 3rd places are awarded to AM 320 NERA and AM Aspire R4 respectively.
