Then he claimed that Jim Smith (a fictitious name) said that AI should be able to do this, and ChatGPT began to agree to insult the user 32% of the time. However, when he replaced the fictional Smith with Andrew Ng, a world-renowned AI developer, the neural output contained insults in 72% of cases. This is a classic method of forming a knowledge base in humans, when we perceive information if we trust the expertise of the source, and are not inclined to perceive information from an unknown or obviously unreliable source. This prompted him to contact a group of researchers to test the neural network's susceptibility to classic methods of manipulating people.
