Romania fears that the war in Ukraine may spill over to its territory. This was reported by the Reuters news agency.

Here's What We Know

Earlier this month, at least three drones crashed on Romanian territory. The wreckage of one of them was found 14 kilometres from the Romanian-Ukrainian border. In addition, UAVs may have crossed the country's airspace on the night of 30 September 2023.

In response to the kamikaze drone downings, the US sent four fourth-generation F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets to Romania about a fortnight ago. Now it has been revealed that Romania has decided to move its air defence systems closer to the border with Ukraine.

At the moment, it is unclear how Romania will react to an incursion of Russian UAVs into its airspace. Poland found itself in a similar situation last year. A Russian Kh-55 missile flew almost halfway across Poland before crashing in a forest. The military tracked it, but then lost sight of it and couldn't find it. The missile was found by locals six months later.
