Ukraine returned to space – SpaceX launched the Sich-2-30 satellite

On January 13, 2022 at 17:25 Kyiv time, the American company SpaceX launched the Ukrainian satellite Sich-2-30 into space.

What we know

The rocket with a government satellite was launched from the base of the United States Space Forces, located at Cape Canaveral. If everything goes according to plan, after 1 hour 23 minutes 2 seconds (18:48 Kyiv time) after the launch, the Sich-2-30 will disconnect from the upper stage.

The satellite is launched into orbit by a Falcon 9 rocket as part of the Transporter-3 mission. The Sich-2-30 weighs 180 kg and costs almost $100,000,000. The launch cost almost $2,000,000. The active life span is at least 5 years.

The government satellite is focused on obtaining digital images of the Earth in the visible and IR ranges of electromagnetic wavelengths. "Sich-2-30" will also be used to monitor the ionosphere.
