Amazon reveals Project Kuiper satellite internet terminals that will deliver speeds of up to 1GB/s

Internet commerce giant Amazon has revealed what Project Kuiper satellite internet terminals will look like. They differ in size and data transfer speeds.

Here's What We Know

Project Kuiper is a competitor for SpaceX's Starlink. Amazon has received permission to put more than 3,000 satellites into orbit. The first launch of the spacecraft is scheduled for 2024, after which the company will test satellite internet. By 2026, there should be 3,236 Amazon satellites in orbit.

As for the terminals, the company will offer three versions. The standard model has an 11" square antenna. It is aimed at home use and will provide data rates of up to 400 Mbps.

The compact terminal is equipped with a 7" antenna. It is a mobile version that can be quickly transported from place to place and used on the move. The maximum data transfer speed will be 100 Mbit/s.

Finally, a third version is aimed at corporate use. The terminal is equipped with a rectangular antenna measuring 48 x 76 cm. The maximum data transfer rate will be 1 GB/s.

The cost of the terminals has not yet been specified, but it is known that the cost of the standard version (11") will be less than $400. In comparison, SpaceX offers Starlink consumer terminals for $599.
