Rivaling Google, Amazon and Roku: the next Apple TV set-top box will cost less than $100
Apple on October 18 announced an updated Apple TV 4K set-top box, which costs less than its predecessor. As it turned out, the next version of the device will also be cheaper.
Here's What We Know
This was revealed by Chinese analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. According to Kuo, the next-generation Apple TV set-top box is likely to cost less than $100. Thus Apple will be able to better compete with similar devices from Google, Amazon and Roku. Unfortunately, the specifications of the device are not yet available.
A new Apple TV 4K with a price drop (starting from $129) reflects the expected improved cost structure. It can help shipments, but the drop should not be enough. The sub-$100 price should be the sweet spot for Apple TV, so I expect the next-gen will be more affordable. https://t.co/pOkEHT4UFb
