Valdur's Gate will continue without Larian Studios: Hasbro is already looking for developers of new games in the cult franchise

Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke has repeatedly stated that despite the enormous success of Baldur's Gate III, his company will not create a new game in this series, as well as any other project in the Dungeons & Dragons universe.

Despite this, Hasbro - the owner of the rights to D&D - still plans to continue Baldur's Gate.

Here's What We Know

Eugene Evans, senior vice president of digital strategy and licensing at Hasbro, said that the company is already looking for a suitable developer for the new part of Baldur's Gate and is in talks with several studios.

We are being approached by many studios who are ready to take on the challenge of answering the question of what the future of the Baldur's Gate franchise will look like. We hope that we won't have to wait another 25 years for a solution - that's how long the second and third Baldur's Gate franchises will be released.

However, we do not intend to hurry either. We will find the right partner, the right approach and the right product that will represent the future of Baldur's Gate. We take this task extremely seriously, as we do everything about our portfolio.

Eugene Evans also revealed that Hasbro plans to start releasing new Dungeons & Dragons games in the next five years that will span all genres and platforms. He mentioned that although most of the characters of Baldur's Gate 3 were created by Larian Studios - the rights to them belong to Hasbro, so the beloved characters of the Belgian developers may appear in other games and media projects.
