Ukraine expects Norwegian NASAMS and German IRIS-T: Air Force assesses effectiveness of Ukrainian air defense

Yuriy Ignat, speaker of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was on the air of the national TV marathon about the work of anti-aircraft defense of Ukraine.

Are they effective?

According to him, the Ukrainian air defense system works quite effectively, but needs improvement.

"We suffered severe disruption after the first missile attacks on the Air Force. That's why the Air Force is working on new approaches, in an environment where we have to constantly move around, constantly avoiding enemy missile attacks. We are unable to get ahead of ourselves, although we sometimes manage to do so. The question is that the forces and means that we use today in the fight against a technologically and quantitatively superior occupier are morally obsolete. We should have developed our air defense system long ago, and there have been such attempts, but now we cannot engage in this process, so we have to count on a significant strengthening of the existing system, which effectively shoots down enemy cruise missiles."

Such systems as Norwegian NASAMS and German IRIS-T, which Ukraine expects to receive in the nearest future, can significantly strengthen Ukraine's air defense. According to Yuriy Ignat, it would also be good to receive American air defense system Patriot, which is one of the best systems in the world.
