The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to use trophy equipment that once belonged to the Russian army.

What we know

The speaker of the Air Force Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Colonel Yuriy Ignat stated that the captured Pantsyr-S1 anti-aircraft missile and cannon system has already started to fight for the AFU. Not only that, but Ukrainian anti-aircraft gunners have already destroyed the first air target with its help.

It should be noted that the AFU seized several units of "Pantsyr-S1" back in early spring (pictured below). In addition, Yuriy Ignat stressed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces also have other formerly Russian equipment fighting on their side. For example, the Buk surface-to-air missile system.

"Pantsyr-S1" is a self-propelled SAM system, which is designed for close protection of military and civilian objects. It was adopted by the Russian army in 2008. The system can hit air targets traveling at up to 1000 m/sec. The shooting range is from 1.2 to 20 km. The maximum altitude is 15 km.

In addition to the Pantsyr-S1 missiles, it has a twin 30 mm anti-aircraft machine gun with an effective range of up to 4 km. The anti-aircraft missile and cannon system also includes a radar station.
