U.S. company BAE Systems tested a robotic tank for the U.S. Army.
What we know
During the test, the Robotic Technology Demonstrator destroyed ground targets with laser-guided Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS)missiles. The test took place in Utah at Dugway Proving Ground. Note that this was the first ever missile APKWS launch by a robotic device.
The Robotic Technology Demonstrator is equipped with a hybrid electric drive and is capable of carrying a payload. In addition to APKWS the robotic tank can use guided anti-tank missiles, barraging ammunition and artillery systems.
