The AFU uses C-60 cannons, the development of which began during World War II
The defense forces of the Kharkiv region are armed with truly rare cannons. We are talking about the 57-mm C-60.
What we know
Photos of Soviet guns were put up for sale on the website gettyimages by the Anadolu Agency. If you want a picture without the watermark you have to pay €150, €335 or €475 depending on the resolution. The maximum resolution is 6600 x 440 pixels.
The anti-aircraft artillery system is equipped with the AZP-57 automatic anti-aircraft gun. The S-60 was adopted by the Soviet Army in 1950, and development work on the system began during World War II, in 1944. So, D-48 was not the oldest gun in the arsenal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Kharkov defense forces mounted the C-60 on a KrAZ-6322 all-wheel drive vehicle with a payload capacity of up to 20 tons. The gun without the four-wheel chassis weighs about 5 tons. The C-60 is the first Soviet remote-guided cannon.
