It should be noted that the UR-77 "Meteorite" is the official name of the self-propelled mine clearing vehicle. It is popularly known as the "Zmey Gorynych" (where Zmey is translated from Russian - Serpent). It received such a nickname because of the characteristic appearance of the firing shaft. For the first time the Russians announced the use of the UR-77 "Meteorit" in Ukraine back in the middle of spring.
The unit consists of a base tracked vehicle, which was borrowed from the self-propelled howitzer 2S1 Gvozdika, a launcher and a combat kit. To clear the territory "UR-77 "Meteorite" creates a powerful shock wave, which affects the mine detonators.
