Poland will simultaneously produce South Korea's K9 Thunder and AHS Krab self-propelled artillery units
Poland has no plans to give up production of its artillery systems AHS Krab, despite the launch of production of Korean howitzers K9 Thunder.
What we know
The head of the Polish defense company Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa Sebastian Chwalek (Sebastian Chwalek) stated this. He is confident that the Ministry of Defense should make expanding production a priority amid growing demand for self-propelled artillery units from Ukraine.
The license agreement for the production of South Korean self-propelled artillery units K9 Thunder will have no effect on the production of howitzers AHS Krab. Moreover, Polish guns will come out in the same quantity as before.
As for 155 mm SAU K9 Thunder, their production will start in 2025 along with South Korean tanks K2. The first specimens will be ready in 2026.
