The Pentagon confirmed that two NASAMS air defense systems are already in Ukraine
A Pentagon representative confirmed that Ukraine has already received two modern air defense systems NASAMS.
Here's What We Know
Brigadier General Patrick Ryder, spokesman for the U.S. Department of Defense, said at a briefing:
"As part of the weapons transfer process, we also provided training to the Ukrainians on how to operate and maintain these weapons. They recently completed the training, it took place in Europe."
He also added that two NASAMS systems "are already in Ukraine and are in working order."
A total of eight NASAMS are to be provided by the U.S. to Ukraine. This is a mobile anti-aircraft missile system for destroying maneuvering targets at low and medium altitudes. The range of AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles is 20-40 km, and the maximum altitude is 20 km. The cost of one such battery is about $65 million.
