18 new HIMARS missile systems for Ukraine will receive an automated fire control system IFATDS

The United States will be sending M142 HIMARS artillery missile systems to Ukraine in the future, along with a new automated fire control system.

Here's What We Know

The United States intends to purchase 18 fire control systems called the International Field Artillery Tactical Data System (IFATDS). They are used to form a general picture of fire support on the basis of information from different sources.

Apart from Ukraine, the USA will supply IFATDS systems to Latvia and Taiwan. The European country will receive 55 sets at once. Taiwan will receive 16 sets.

Ukraine will receive new M142 HIMARS highly mobile artillery missile systems, not from Pentagon stocks. They will be manufactured under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) program. This was announced in September.
