Raytheon begins development of hypersonic missile interceptor

The American company Raytheon Missiles & Defense has begun to develop an interceptor that will improve protection against hypersonic weapons.

Here's What We Know

The U.S. Missile Defense Agency is involved in the development of the anti-missile. The new Raytheon Missiles & Defense munition will eliminate hypersonic missiles at the stage of approach to the target. The company will integrate it into the Aegis system that equips Arleigh Burke-type destroyers.

The new missile to counter hypersonic weapons is being developed as part of the Glide Phase Interceptor program. Raytheon Missiles & Defense will use elements that have been tested in other US hypersonic and missile projects to create it.
