The U.S. has allocated $216.3 billion to the Air Force for 2023 - $99 billion will be spent on research and procurement

In mid-December, the U.S. Senate approved a $858 billion defense spending bill for the Air Force.

Here's What We Know

The federal budget for fiscal year 2023 is expected to allocate more than $216 billion to the U.S. Air Force. By comparison, the Air Force will receive only $26 billion.

During fiscal 2023, the United States will spend $42.8 billion on members of the Air Force, National Guard and Reserves. Another $71.4 billion was allocated for maintenance.

The procurement budget deserves special attention. In 2023, the U.S. Air Force could spend $54.1 billion on equipment purchases. That is $6 million more than the service originally requested. Also note the allocation of $45 billion for research and $3 billion for military construction.
