The US Marine Corps will receive the MRIC medium-range air defence system with Iron Dome technologies to defend against China

The US Marine Corps hopes to adopt new medium-range surface-to-air missile systems. The prospective air defence system is designed to bolster defences against China.

Here's What We Know

The main location of the Marine Corps has become the Indo-Pacific region. The service intends to strengthen air defence with MRIC (Medium-Range Intercept Capability) surface-to-air missile systems.

This is an American development. The system is aimed at detection, tracking, identification and destruction of enemy cruise missiles, as well as manned and unmanned aerial vehicles.

The surface-to-air missile system will include a semi-stationary launcher. It is important to note that the technology used in its development is the same as that used in the US-Israeli Iron Dome system.

The U.S. Marine Corps intends to conduct final tests of the MRIC next year. If everything goes according to plan, the serial production of new surface-to-air missile systems will be launched in 2025.
