Baldur's Gate III on Xbox still has a problem with progress disappearing - Microsoft and Larian Studios are working on a fix
Larian Studios ended last year with the release of Baldur's Gate 3 for the Xbox Series. Unfortunately, the quality of the game on Microsoft consoles leaves much to be desired: among many minor problems, there is one major one - players lose their game progress.
We're aware that there is a save issue on Xbox that continues to linger throughout the holidays. It occurs when exiting the game after saving. The game thinks the save was successful but due to a firmware issue, the save file is not fully committed to disk yet.

Microsoft is...
Here's What We Know
On their Twitter account, the developers reported that the problem occurs when saving and quitting the game. As it turned out, the problem is related to the firmware, as the save file is not "fully committed to the disc". Microsoft has confirmed that it is already working on a fix, but the process has been delayed due to the holiday season.
For now, the developers recommend that players activate cross-saves and link their Xbox and Larian accounts to automatically upload their last five saves to the developer's servers. You can then restore your save files in case the error occurs again. Larian is working on increasing the number of uploaded save files in the "coming days".
