Samsung announces UFS 4.0 flash memory standard

Company Samsung introduced the standard UFS 4.0 that will make smartphone storage faster than the latest game console Microsoft.

What is known

The new flash memory will boast speeds of 23.2 Gb/s per lane, outperforming UFS 3.1 twice. Maximum read and write speed in drives UFS 4.0 will be 4200 MB / s and 2800 MB / s, respectively, i.e. higher than Xbox Series X.

Additionally Samsung notes an increase in energy efficiency by almost one and a half times (+46%) compared to UFS 3.1. The maximum capacity of the drive will be 1 TB, and the overall dimensions of the chip will be 11 x thirteen x 1 mm.

Memory UFS 4.0 will go into production in the third quarter of 2022, i.e. in folding flagships Samsung Galaxy Flip 4 and Galaxy Fold 4, we probably won't see it. Recall that they should be shown in August.
