Chinese company Nio, which is known for its electric cars, will take over the production of smartphones.

What we know

Nio on August 4 registered a division of Nio Mobile Technologies Co Ltd with a start-up capital of $100,000,000. The company was co-founded by Nio president Qin Lihong. Headquarters of Nio Mobile Technologies Co Ltd, as well as the automotive division, will be located in Shanghai.

Dates of release of the company's first product is not yet available, but it is rumored that the gadget will be released in 2023. By the way, Nio will follow in the footsteps of Apple and will release smartphones once a year.
