South Korea will give up Russian rockets and may use Falcon 9 to launch its satellites

The authorities of the Republic of Korea are ready to refuse to use Russian carrier rockets to launch their satellites into orbit.

Here's What We Know

This is reported by the news agency Yonhap, whose journalists managed to get acquainted with the document of the Ministry of Science and Information and Communications Technology. South Korea will refuse to launch satellites with Anagara and Soyuz rockets because of sanctions that have been imposed on Russia.

Seoul will break contracts with Russia and look for new partners. They include the U.S. company SpaceX with its Falcon 9 carrier rocket. But in this case the Parliament will have to allocate additional financing in the amount of $61 million.

Another partner of South Korea may become the European Space Agency (ESA). But the European agency has also rejected Russian rockets and is considering the Falcon 9.
