Maserati has announced its first electric car, the GranTurismo Folgore, a coupe with a 1,221 HP engine, up to 320 km/h speed and price from $170,000

Italian manufacturers do not refuse to switch to electric cars, but do not want to force the process. Maserati plans to produce cars with electric power plant and internal combustion engine, but it does not intend to completely abandon the internal combustion engine. Only now Maserati has presented its first electric car. It is called GranTurismo Folgore.

Here's What We Know

The first Maserati is a coupe with three engines with a total capacity 1221 HP (3 x 407 HP). From zero to 100 km/h the car will be able to accelerate in 2.7 seconds, while the top speed will be 320 km/h. Cruising range is not mentioned.

The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore will also appear in another version - with a V-shaped six-cylinder diesel engine. Externally, this version will differ from the electric-powered one by exhaust pipes instead of an charging slot.

The electric car will get an 800-volt power system. It allows the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore to be charged using DC power stations with a maximum capacity of 270 kW. The battery capacity will be 92.5 kWh, but only 83 kWh will be available for use.

There will be three displays: 12.2", 12.3" and 8.8" in the interior of the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore. One of the features will be the ability to play through the speakers sounds of V8 engines.

Price & When We Can Expect It

The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore will cost between $170,000 and $215,000. Sales of the electric car will start in 2023. Residents of the European Union will be able to buy a car in mid-summer, and by the beginning of autumn the novelty will reach the U.S. and the UK.
