Microsoft accidentally revealed that Notepad will get tabs in Windows 11

One of the Microsoft employees accidentally announced that the standard Windows Notepad program will receive an update with tabs. He posted a photo of the updated version of Notepad with tabs with the caption "Notepad in Windows 11 now has tabs!".

A few minutes later, the tweet was deleted, but the thematic publications and ordinary users managed to take screenshots. Ironically, the version of Notepad that was demonstrated had a warning "Confidential. Do not discuss features or take screenshots".

It seems that the feature is currently under internal testing in the company and may become available to Windows Insider program members sometime in early 2023.

The addition of tabs to Notepad may indicate a move towards tabs that appear in more built-in Windows apps. Microsoft may have canceled its Sets feature for Windows 10, but that hasn't stopped power users of Windows from using third-party tools and apps to bring tabs to life in various parts of the operating system.
