Lightyear has unveiled a car that costs less than €40,000 and runs on solar power

The Lightyear One is the first production model of the Dutch company Lightyear, which is powered by solar energy. The car costs at least €250,000, so it is unaffordable for many car enthusiasts. For them, the company has introduced a cheaper vehicle.

Here's What We Know

The Lightyear 2 electric car was announced last week in Las Vegas at CES 2023. A full battery charge, not including recharging with solar panels, is enough for 800 km. On a sunny day the panels provide up to 70 km of mileage.

Lightyear is in no particular hurry to disclose the technical specifications of the new car. Sales of Lightyear 2 will begin in 2025. The cost of the car will be less than €40,000 in basic configuration. We hope that the circulation will not be limited, as in the case of the electric car Lightyear One, which is available in 946 copies.
