A Russian equivalent of the US smart bomb US to provide Ukraine with modified JDAM-ER long-range smart bombs has fallen in Donetsk Region. The bomb failed to reach the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Here's What We Know

The Russian equivalent of the JDAM-ER is a combination of a 500kg FAB-500M-62 bomb and a set of wings that unfold during flight. However, the kit fell off, causing the bomb to fall in Donetsk, which is temporarily occupied by Russian troops.

It was previously reported that the Russian army wanted to create its own smart bomb. Information about this first emerged in early 2023.
